ABOUT:
My name is Erika Epperly (Eri for short), and I am a female artist based in Jacksonville, Florida. The theme of femininity is common throughout body of work. My floral paintings, often seen as self-portraits, blur the lines between realism and dreamlike abstraction, symbolizing my own journey through vital points in my life. I am half Okinawan and lived in Okinwa, Japan during my chilhood. I am inspired by tropical flowers and beach landscapes due to this. My floral series acts as a symbol of transformation and growth. Like a flower, we must nuture and take care of ourselves in order to bloom.
Recently, I've ventured into new territory, exploring the intersection of video games and femininity. My "girlified" Call of Duty-inspired paintings offer a playful, cutesy twist on a traditionally masculine genre. Each piece explores femininity in male-dominated spaces, and create a narrative for women as minorities in these places.
